Roger Federer Narrates His Legendary Tennis Career in New Road to Newport Series

Before Roger Federer is presented with the Ultimate Honor in Tennis this August in Newport, RI, the International Tennis Hall of Fame (ITHF) is highlighting his rise to tennis greatness in this year’s Road to Newport video series.

In this 6-part feature, Federer reflects on some of his biggest career milestones and memorable moments from a young player in Switzerland to a global sporting icon, giving an inside look into his most legendary moments showcasing his unique path to becoming a Hall of Famer. Now in its seventh season, the Road to Newport debuts digitally this week on ITHF’s YouTube page and on social media. The episodes will be released weekly leading up to the 2026 Induction Celebration from August 27-29.

Throughout the series, Federer revisits the evolution of his game, and the accomplishments that helped cement his legacy. Beyond his legacy wins from 2003 Wimbledon to the 2022 Laver Cup, the episodes also explore Federer’s impact beyond the court including his Foundation, global influence, and enduring connecting with fans around the world.

This year’s series was directed by Katie Walsh, a Peabody and Emmy-award winning director and producer, with recent projects including Simone Biles Rising on Netflix, which earned Walsh a Best Director Gracie Award alongside two Critics Choice Awards. Walsh crafts immersive narratives that highlight the athlete behind the sport, as exemplified in Road to Newport and her previous work featured on ESPN, NBC Sports, ABC and more.  

“Roger’s story extends far beyond his achievements on the court,” said Katie Walsh. “It was a privilege to sit down with him and unpack the experiences, relationships, and defining moments that shaped his journey. I’m excited to bring these moments to life for fans to experience once again.”

The Road to Newport leads into the Class of 2026 Induction Ceremony, culminating in a three-day Induction Celebration from August 27-29.
